What is IDPN?
Intradialytic parenteral nutrition (IDPN) is a nutritional support therapy for people on hemodialysis who have a difficult time maintaining adequate nutrition. IDPN therapy is an intravenous (IV) product containing three ingredients: protein, sugar, and fat. The ingredients in your individualized IDPN formula will help to replace the nutrients lost during dialysis treatments.

What is the purpose of IDPN?
The purpose of IDPN is to improve your overall nutritional status and well-being. Each patient is different and may experience an improvement in energy level, strength, and appetite. Some patients may also improve their ability to fight off infection.

What is IPN?
Intraperitoneal nutrition (IPN), also known as intraperitoneal amino acids (IPAA), is a nutrition therapy for people on peritoneal dialysis. IPN provides protein in the form of amino acids, which are rapidly absorbed. IPN is for people who cannot eat enough food or drink enough nutritional supplements in their daily diet and need extra protein calories to improve their health and well-being.

What is the purpose of IPN?
While the effects on each patient are different, some may experience an improvement in dry body weight, energy levels, the ability to build leaner muscle mass, strength, appetite, and the ability to better fight off infection.1
